On January 26, the Service to commemorate the 140th Anniversary of Oyasama was performed at Jiba.
This year marked the 140th year since Oyasama hid Her physical being on January 26, 1887, of the lunar year. Successor-Designate Daisuke Nakayama, serving as chief officiant on behalf of the Shinbashira, led the service attended by over 120,000 followers coming together from around the world.
In the Three Year One Thousand Day Period leading up the annivesary, churches and Yoboku devoted their efforts towards answering Oyasama's parental love, to help bring about Joyous Life on this earth.
On the day of the Service, a severe winter cold front swept across Japan and there were many worries about transportation. And yet, numerous followers flocked to the four worship halls from early in the morning while many others braved the outdoor weather, filling the over 8,500 benches installed throughout Inner Courtyard and elsewhere.
Through the Service, followers of the Path were able to report their spiritual growth during the Three Year One Thousand Day Period as well as make resolve to continue upon the path of helping to save others, as desired by God the Parent.
From the America/Canada Diocese, close to three hundred followers returned to Jiba for the occasion. For everyone, it was a moment of inspiration to take part in this very important event in our faith. Follow this link to read about their experiences.
