Tenrikyo Mission New York Center was founded in 1976 as a branch of Tenrikyo Mission Headquarters in America and Canada. The purpose is to nurture Tenrikyo followers on the East Coast of the United States. 

Tenri Cultural Institute (founded in 1991; Executive Director, Rev. Michael Yuge), located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, is a division of New York Center. It serves as a Japanese language school, an art gallery and a concert hall.

Followers and non-followers alike are welcome to visit both facilities.
