Here are our personal ramen shop favorites in and near Tenri? (More to come in the near future)
Baikoken (梅光軒)
This ramen shop is located near Nara Park, just a seven-minute walk from Shin-Omiya station. They specialize in Asahikawa ramen, a style native to Hokkaido prefecture. The bowl pictured above features a rich miso broth, with extra chashu pork piled on a healthy serving of egg noodles. If you are feeling adventurous, try the butter topping, an authentic Asahikawa experience! (R.M.)
Mendokoro Toichi (麺処と市)
Mendokoro Toichi is a humble, unassuming restaurant tucked into the parking lot of a tire store in Kashihara City, just a short drive out of Tenri. The atmosphere is very casual in this small restaurant, with counter seating and a relatively small menu. The highlight of this ramen is their complex broth, made by blending pork, chicken, and fish to create a flavor that pairs well with the handmade noodles and simple toppings. Try the Ajitama bowl, either as ramen or as tsukemen! (R.M.)
